Full house of mojo

Fellow Toastmasters Past and Present,

Last night was a pretty full house with 21 members and guests.

The evening was kicked off with Dee and her invocation on “finding a cause and helping others more needy then ourselves”.

Juju tackled the theme “Mojo”  with a 2 part question on opposite words, followed by Fabians observations as our Topic Master.

After our refreshment break, courtesy of Ernestina, we had 3 speeches from Lucille (Pony Express), Juju (Connecting) and Larry (Lions club and their many contributions). Congratulations to Angela, Larry and Alex, our Blue Ribbon Winners.

Have a Great Week.

Eye Contact

Fellow Toastmasters,

On a cool night, we had 17 or so cool Toastmasters in attendance.  If you missed it, doesn’t mean you’re not cool, just that you missed a cool meeting.

It was great to see Joan Winters, and James Look…..looking so good and back at our meeting.

Lucille got things started off with her invocation on violence and its effect on our youth.  Sindy stepped up as our volunteer Toastmaster and ran an effectively smooth meeting.
Our theme for the night “Eye Contact” was not an easy one, but I must say that our members handled it with such enthusiasm.  Ernestina did an exceptional job as the Topic evaluator, giving praise and helpful advice.

For the second half, our own Mr. Fabian was the sole speaker with his 5 to 7 on evolution.  I could have listened to him all night…….yes that good.

Great Week to all.

Freedom

Hola Fellow Toastmasters,
This email would have reached you sooner but I had a slight interruption in SCE service.  Apparently,  a telephone pole was knocked down at 5am creating a power outage for most of the day.
Hope it wasn’t Ricardo. Just kidding…we miss you Ricky.

Well we had another transforming evening with Lucille leading the way as our honorable Toastmaster.  Daniella was inspiring in her invocation.   Alex as our Table Topic Master was flawless, asking  great, thoughtful questions on the theme “Freedom”, while adding a twist in the format with speakers and evaluators.  Sindy our TT evaluator was……well what would you expect from an experienced Toastmaster.  Giving useful and creative feedback that we could all use to help us on our way to the world stage!

Dee gave us a wonderful speech on the history of Ice Cream.  Really fascinating.

The highlight of the evening was Brian and his “Ice Breaker”.  I’m still laughing about the wood chuck chuck thing.  Wish I would have thought of that, but I can’t say it.

There will be no officer meeting this week as planned.  We will reschedule for last week of January.
Have a Great Week.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Fellow Toastmasters,
2014 was a Great year for our club.  We increased our membership by over 30% as well as maintaining the majority of our existing members.
Members new and old gave quality speeches which were entertaining as well as informative.
It’s been a pleasure watching everyone grow in ability and confidence.
I’m looking forward to an exciting year with Toastmasters beginning with the Leadership and Communication Experience (Lace Training).  Scheduled for Saturday  January 10th
at Chapman University in Orange and Saturday January 24th at Cal State Los Angeles.  I’ve checked out the
program and it looks terrific.  Please let us know on Monday if you’re planning on attending (I’ve registered for both dates).
