About last night ... Self development

Hello Fellow Toastmasters,
Last night’s meeting was filled with positive notes, as we shared our personal stories based on our theme ‘Self Development.’ After listening to all the Table Topic Speakers, we concluded that coming to Toastmasters is a sure method of self-development, as many of us mentioned that coming to Toastmasters has helped us in various ways. Thank you to our Table Topic Master Angelica for the thoughtful questions, and also to our Table Topic Evaluator Terry for providing useful feedback.
We also conducted our ‘condensed’ Club Contest last night and we have one representative for each category.  Al will be giving a humorous speech titled “Baseball: Lost in Translation,” and George will be competing in the Evaluations contest. Both of these members are polished and talented, if you would like to listen to them/provide feedback before the contest, please join us this coming Monday and support Club 269!
Reminder, our Area H4 Contest is on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 from 1-5pm in Azusa. Come support our fellow Club 269 members!
See you this coming Monday!

08/19/2016 About Last Night..........

Hello Fellow Toastmasters,

Last night's meeting hosted a visitor, our Area Director Mel Flores. At the end of the meeting, she shared that she was 'impressed' with our club and the outstanding number of members. She came to evaluate our club and also to announce our Area Contest coming up on Oct 8th, from 1-4pm in Azusa.

The contest will host contestants giving humorous speeches and evaluations. Have a funny bone? You may want to participate by giving a humorous speech. Do you have a knack for giving positive criticism? You may want to participate as an evaluator.

We will be having our club contest this coming Monday 09/26, and the winners of this contest will move on and represent our club in the Area contest. Please join us!

Besides this announcement, our meeting moved along with high energy and great participation. Great job to all those who stepped in to fill roles, and all our speakers of the night. The only way to get better is to keep coming!

We will see you next Monday!

08/15/2016 About Last Night..........

Hello Fellow Toastmasters,

Our meeting last night was full of wonderful stories, great speakers, and lots of enthusiasm, especially since your Club 269 Officers had a meeting and came up with meaty ideas for the next couple of weeks.

Want to know what it is, stay tuned! In the next couple of days, you will receive a link to a survey with questions to better tailor our club topics. I promise it's short! Please take the survey, then join us for some VERY informative topics in the next couple of weeks.
Our 08/15 meeting ran as scheduled, with members stepping in to fill roles and ALL those in attendance getting a chance to speak. Our club layout enables all members of the audience with a chance to speak: practice makes perfect.
So, who has talent? Last night we heard from two of our newer members giving speeches. First, Emi has been a Toastmaster for about two months and gave his Ice Breaker. Did you know he is a polished Opera Singer, Theatrical Performer and speaks multiple languages? We have asked him to sing us a sample song next time, so don't miss out!
Who else has talent? Hesty, a member also for about two months, gave us an impromptu speech and we found out she is in Architectural Design, yes she designs houses! She beautifully compared designing a house to the human physique, so that the audience could understand that building a house comes down to a few characteristics.

Each week we learn something new. Whether it is about someone else, or to improve ourselves. Don't miss the opportunity to network, socialize, and of course, practice your speaking and leadership skills. Join us next week!

08/08/2016 About Last Night..........

Hello Fellow Toastmasters,
Last night’s meeting was certainly an ‘adventure,’ as we heard an array of vibrant stories and speeches from those in attendance.
Martin started our meeting off with a wonderful Invocation, followed by Migo as our Joke Master who soon had us laughing out loud. Al was our first time Toastmaster and did a great job ensuring the meeting flowed smoothly and on time.
Our Table Topic portion of the meeting was soon underway as our Table Topic Master for the night, Terry, took the stage. He printed questions relating to the theme ‘Adventure’ on pieces of paper and asked each speaker to pull one out of a baggie and speak on it. We heard many wonderful stories about travels, adventures, and mishaps. Alex, our Table Topic Evaluator, very succinctly provided feedback for all the speakers and gave them pointers to improve their speaking.
Refreshments last night were provided by George, thank you!
The second half of our meeting is the prepared speeches, and last night’s meeting hosted three great speeches. Daniela gave her 9th manual speech about the power of giving and provided great examples of giving back to the community. Garvin shared with us an impromptu speech about the two most influential people in his life titled ‘A Tale of two Friends.’ He asked the audience to think about what they wish their legacy to be when then pass this world. Our third speaker was Hesty, giving us her Ice Breaker. Her very well organized speech told us about her name, her career and her hobbies. We learned a lot about Hesty; congrats on completing project 1!
Following the speeches were the evaluators. Byron was up first to evaluate Daniela’s speech and provided feedback. Fabian followed with his evaluation of Garvin’s speech and also provided pointers to make his speech more impactful. Last but not least was Migo who evaluated Hesty and gave her great ideas to improve her future speeches.
Our General Evaluator George did a great job of recapping the meeting and also providing additional feedback to the speakers, evaluators, and for the overall meeting.
We finished up the meeting just two minutes after the hour, but we had a jam-packed schedule and an audience eager to speak and learn. We hope to see you next week for another exciting meeting!

08/01/2016 About Last Night..........

Hello fellow Toastmaster for those who weren't in attendance at last nights meeting I will quickly provide a quick recap of last nights events.

The evening treated us to a great meeting started and ended by Byron who filled in admirably as Toastmaster by keeping the meeting flowing smoothly. Daniel then asked all Table Topic speakers questions about our workplace and I for one commend him for varying the questions to each speaker. Alex (myself) then provided feedback to all Table Topic speakers in attendance.

We then headed for break where we enjoyed snacks and drinks provided by Byron. Thank you very much for that Byron.

The 2nd half of the meeting treated us to two great speeches by Terry and Fabian. Two very different speeches, but both very well delivered. Brian evaluated Terry, giving him very useful feedback on how to make slight improvements on his next speech. Migo then evaluated Fabian and did well providing tips for Fabian for his next speech.

Overall, a truly exciting meeting to be a part of.

Don't miss out, we hope to see everyone next week my fellow Toastmasters.

Thank You
